Runway Closure Dubai International Airport (16 April 2019 – 30 May 2019)

The Southern Runway (12R-30L) at Dubai Airport (DXB) is now nearing the end of its design life and requires resurfacing, replacement of the airfield ground lighting and supporting infrastructure. The Southern Runway Rehabilitation (SRR) project will strengthen and resurface the runway and the adjacent taxiway involving the placement of approximately 60,000 tonnes of asphalt and 8,000m3 of concrete.  At the same time, over 5,500 runway lights and 800 km of primary cables will be replaced. This work can only be completed with a closure of the runway for a period of 45 days meaning that capacity will be severely reduced.  ACL as coordinator for Dubai Airport will work with the airport to facilitate the reduction in capacity during the period of the closure in a fair and transparent way. ACL will post all relevant guidance and notes related to the capacity reduction exercise on this page.
